Update, 11 a.m., Friday: Except for the 4600 & 5300 blocks of East Mercer Way (and the intersection w/ SE 53rd Place), Mercer Island Assistant City Manager Glenn Boettcher confirmed all Island streets have now been re-opened as of 10 a.m. Those intersections were blocked by trees falling on power lines and must be repaired by Puget Sound Energy crews.
Mercer Island Patch is still trying to confirm the status of the 8200 block of West Mercer Way and the 6800 block of East Mercer Way, which have been reduced to one lane due to downed trees.
"We have been told there are PSE crews on the Island, and they are beyond the assessment phase, working on repairs," said Boettcher. "If it's something we can do we are transitioning from letting people go from plowing, and we are getting to overhanging trees and branches."

Original Story:
Emergency Response officials with North East King County Regional Public Safety Communications Agency (NORCOM) are requesting citizens not call 911 for updated road condition information, according to public officials.
Officials are urging residents to use the 911 service for emergencies only. Calling 911 for information delays emergency calls from being answered and can delay help, said a press release. These delays for emergency calls can have devastating effects on those most in need.

Closed Roads:
City maintenance crews report that roadways are extremely hazardous with compact snow and ice on the roadway and all hills need to be an area of concern and even what looks like exposed roadway may be slick and icy.
Mercer Island has had freezing rainfall which is polishing the snow and ice on the roadway and caused a number of fallen trees — blocking arterial roads. As of 7 a.m. this morning, both lanes of East Mercer Way are blocked at the 4600 block and 5300 block due to downed powerlines. In addition, the 8200 block of West Mercer Way and the 6700 block of East Mercer Way have been reduced to one lane each way.
