Escape to Winthrop for the Holidays!

If you have some extra vacation time to use, why not plan a quick trip to the Methow Valley?

It's cold in the Methow Valley, this time of year, with highs of 25 to 30 degrees and lows of 9 to 20 degrees. You'll want to pack a lot of warm clothing for your trip so that you can get out and enjoy the Methow Valley's beauty and variety of winter activities.

If you plan to go, here are five places you might want to stay:

Sun Mountain Lodge, Chewuch Inn, River's Edge Resort, the Freestone Inn (in Mazama; just 14 miles from Winthrop), and the Methow Valley Inn (in Twisp; just 22 miles from Winthrop) are all top-rated accommodations. Check out their websites to determine the best option for your needs.

With such a wide variety of activities from which to choose, here are five things to do during your break:

  1. Skiing-Downhill, Cross-country and Heli-Skiing
  2. Snowmobiling
  3. Snowshoeing
  4. Sledding
  5. Nature and Wildlife Studies

So, you're looking for a quick weekend getaway, or you need to use up some hard earned vacation time, head over to Winthrop. It's a beautiful drive all year long, but plan on leaving extra time if there is snow in the forecast on the mountain passes. Average drive time without weather or traffic issues is approximately four and a half hours.
