MIHS Girls Water Polo Coach Hall Takes Summer Job

Ryan Hall, current coach of Mercer Island Girls Water Polo team, will coach 15-18 year-old boys at the Rain City Water Polo club.

Ryan Hall, current coach of Mercer Island girls varsity water polo team, has joined the Rain City Water Polo Club coaching staff for the 2012 summer session through August 1.

The Bellevue native and Newport High School graduate will be starting on May 28th (meeting WIAA no contact requirements) and will be working with the 18u and 16u men.

Hall's coaching roots on Mercer Island extend back to his days in the Midlakes Water Polo’s summer league water polo at Newport Hills in 2005. He has served as an assistant coach at the University of Redlands, helping to lead the Bulldogs to a SCIAC championship in 2009.

The journeyman coach took the head coaching job of Mercer Island High School boys water polo team in 2010 and helped guide the men’s program to its 11th straight state championship. In 2012, Hall returned to MIHS, this time with the women’s program guiding the Islanders to a 3rd place finish at the state championships and was recognized as the Coach of the Year.

Hall (a Washington State MVP in 2002 and 2003) attended University of Redlands and pulled off the rare feat of lettering in two-sports: water polo and basketball. In the pool, Coach Hall earned numerous awards and accolades.  From 2004-2007, Hall was recognized as a NCAA Division III First-Team All-American selection. In 2006, Hall was honored as the SCIAC Player of the Year. Hall left UR third on the programs all time scoring list, fourth in steals and fourth in ejections drawn.

Rain City Water Polo is a non-profit water polo club serving boys and girls ages 8-18 in the Greater Seattle and Eastside — including several Mercer Island facilites such as , and the . Rain City’s mission is to promote the sport of water polo in a safe and fun environment.
