Snow Forecast For Tuesday Afternoon, Up to 10 New Inches on Wednesday

One to three inches have fallen on Kirkland and North King County area through 2:30 p.m. and a Winter Storm Warning has been issued from midnight tonight through Wednesday, with 5 to 10 inches of snow accumulation possible.

Winter weather will affect the area through Tuesday afternoon and possibly through Wednesday evening, as significant snow accumulations are expected late tonight and another 5 to 10 inches of  new snow possible by Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service, which issued a Winter Weather Warning Tuesday afternoon, warns drivers to expect travel difficulties on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service reports that a Puget Sound convergence zone is producing moderate to locally heavy snow showers north of North Seattle and Kirkland to Camano Island and Arlington Tuesday afternoon.

The snow will remain nearly stationary through about 2:30 p.m., according to the weather service.

Temperatures are falling below freezing, so expect roadways across northern King County to be snow covered, the weather service reported.
