Election Day: Share Your View (and Win a Prize!)

Editor Kendall Watson is looking for opinions and comment on Election Day.

There's no shortage of opinion out there on today's final day of voting for the 2010 General Election.

Wandering around the a few days ago and hearing it in whispers, sitting down for a and catching a bit of commentary on the U.S. Senate race, and yesterday—it's a hot topic around town.

It's just my opinion, but it seems a certain amount of opinion is an act of catharsis after King County stopped using the ballot box system in 2009 and went to an all-mail election. They'll start counting the ballots as early as 3 p.m. today, and many of you have already turned in your ballots.

And then there are . Intiatives 1053, 1082, 1098, 1100, 1105 & 1107, to name a few, not to mention the state legisative races in the 41st District or the U.S. Senate race.

I've got a video and digital camera, a note-pad, and a bunch of prizes to give away for sharing your opinion.

So how about it, Mercer Island? What's your view? Who's your favorite candidate? What voter initiative did you love, or hate? Do you miss voting in the ballot box? Was it a tough election, or an easy choice?

The email address is: kendall.watson@patch.com.

I'll also be walking around town and visiting coffee shops, asking folks their opinion and making a video of my responses. If you see me (and that's me on the right) be sure to stop me, say hello, and earn those 10 seconds of internet fame (and some cool logo'd schwag) on Mercer Island Patch!

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

I'll be a bit more direct than Jerry. The new site is a mess. Visually it's extremely cluttered.Read More It's slow, very slow. There appear to be no RSS feeds, a major negative. Following a few links sometimes sends you to a different community's Patch site. And what happened with the editing staff. Unless I missed something, suddenly there are new editors without any warning. No matter what the circumstances, normally such a move would be accompanied by an announcement of some sort. Venice may be the greatest editor ever, but it looks like she is splitting her time among several Patch sites, so the odds are stacked against her. Her "latest activities" list even suggests that she is editing a Patch site down in the San Francisco Bay area. With all due respect, Patch sites should be hyper-local, and the best route to that is a local (i.e. Mercer Islander) editor.

The Jury is still out. I liked the "Old Patch". J
