Community Corner

Emmanuel Episcopal Church Open House

Join the Emmanuel community for a morning of worship and youth programming. We will be having our Godly Play programming and Youth Group programming showcased at 9:15 am, and Eucharist will follow at the 10:30 service.

Godly Play is a tactile approach rooted in the School of Montessori that teaches children about Christianity and the presence of God. Children are able to engage hands-on learning using props and natural materials to play, explore, and engage in the Biblical stories. A typical Godly Play session consists of a welcoming and greeting, storytelling time (the storyteller tells a story and asks wondering questions of the children as he/she goes along), “work” (play and explore) time, Feast (which models the fellowship), and a goodbye, or sendoff.

Youth Group programming consists of some kind of Christ-centered/ Biblical reflection, meditation or activity, possible journaling time, social time, and prayer. Youth Group also consists of several special events throughout the year including a lock-in, confirmation program (TBD), retreats, and service opportunities.
