  • Why Go: Start off your weekend with a free wine tasting at The Olde Wine Store this Friday evening. They'll be pouring wines from the five star Walla Walla wineries, Reiningner and Helix.

  • Why Go: The Mercer Island Arts Council's "Classics on Film" is back. This time, the popular film series delves into the interconnectedness and isolation of people, places, and things through a five part documentary film series titled, "Economies of Scale". The series kicks things off this Friday with The One Percent, a documentary by Jamie Johnson that provides rare insights into attitudes of people born into extreme privilege.

  • Why Go: The 5th annual Island Senior Resource Fair is sponsored by the Senior Foundation of Mercer Island. The fair will feature vendors, speakers, activities, demonstrations, vital health readings, and more.
  • Cost: Event is open to the public and admission is free.

 

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Fri, Oct 7 at .
  • Why Go: Take an in depth look into our universe during a free showing of "Stars" at the Willard Geer Planetarium at Bellevue College. After the show stay to take a brief tour of the night sky using the state-of-the-art Digistar 3 planetarium projector.  Shows start at 7:30 and 8:30 PM and will last approximately 35-40 minutes.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Sat, Oct 8 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kirkland.
  • Why Go: Looking for new ways to make a difference in your communities? Come to the Eastside Volunteer Fair this Saturday and network with local social service agencies to learn how you can make a difference. Bring your family, your church, your neighbors, all are welcome.
  • Cost: Free. Refreshments provided.
