John Curley to Emcee NYHS Gala Fundraiser on Sunday

The fundraiser is Northwest Yeshiva's most important fundraising event of the year.

Billed as one of the best deals in private education in the Puget Sound, is preparing to hold their annual Gala Dinner and Auction fundraiser this Sunday, Feb. 27, to hold those costs down.

Held this year at the Grand Hyatt Seattle Hotel in Seattle, the event begins at 4:30 p.m. under the theme "Im Panim L'Atid—Faces of the Future". The private Jewish school, like many other private schools, is feeling a squeeze on their finances during the recession and is seeking ways to prevent steep hikes in tuition at the school—which run around $13,000 a year.

For the second year running, the event will be hosted by impresario John Curley—known to many as KING5's Evening Magazine former host—in his capacity as a professional auctioneer. The fundraising event is the school's most important annual fundraising effort, and raised over $180,000 last year. The Auction Catalog can be found here.

"It's a big community-building event," said Bayla Freidman Treiger, who along with fellow NYHS supporter Julie Varon helped co-chair the event. "It's a great way to showcase our school."

Several prizes came in at the last minute to bid, including two Metallic Charcoal Hybrid Trek Bikes, an Apple IPad 3G,  5 nights in London at the London Hyatt - The Churchill and 80,000 miles on either British or American Airlines and a hiking trip with Rabbi Owen.
