Lots of Winners in Island Park's 'Apple Cup'

This year's food drive will benefit the Mercer Island Youth & Family Services Food Pantry.

The final score: Huskies 1,439  Cougars 625. It was a high-scoring drive at Island Park Elementary School this week as students donated food in honor of their favorite local college team. Students could pick either the UW or WSU table in Island Park’s traditional Apple Cup food drive.

Of course, the big winner was the Mercer Island Youth & Family Services Food Pantry, which received the 2,064 cans, jars and other non-perishable items just in time for Thanksgiving.

A big “thank you” to Island Park’s third-grade Brownie Troop 41158 for counting all the food and delivering it to the  Food Pantry.
