Money Magazine Ranks Mercer Island #21 as 'Top-earning Town' in US

Money Magazine began releasing several lists Aug. 12 online for their upcoming "Best Places to Live" Sept. 2013.

A collaborative partnership between cable TV-giants CNN and Money Magazine lauds Mercer Island this week as a "Top Earning Town" as part of the magazine's annual "Best Places to Live" Sept. 2013. issue.

Money credits not only the community's financial resources, but also its and natural beauty, 300 acres of parks and setting on Lake Washington in a brief mention of the community in the 21st place ranking of 25 towns across the US.

According to the ranking — which is based solely on median income, Mercer Islanders currently earn a median income of $148,284. That's about $1,000 less annually than wealthy #20 Powell, OH (near Columbus) and $1,000 more than median earners make in Washington, DC suburb Olney, MD. Scarsdale, NY was ranked No. 1.

Nearby Sammamish is ranked 24th.
