Forecasters and school district officials missed by a several hours, but 2-4 inches of snow finally fell on Mercer Island Wednesday night and Thursday morning, forcing the to close schools for a second consecutive day.
Temperatures are warmer than forecast, leading to much of the snow melting away by this afternoon. The National Weather Service is predicting lows tonight will drop down into the 20s, but no further snowfall is forecast.
Before the melting started, Mercer Island Patch caught up with the Gerhardt, Boyle and Raymond families as they packed the snow on for a snowman and sledded down the hillside above and below the tennis courts. Check it out!
