Viewfinder: Mercer Island Rotary Half Marathon

Thousands descend on Mercer Island for a morning of good exercise and a good cause.

There couldn't have been a more perfect morning for a run (or walk or dash) than Sunday morning, a sunny first day of Spring, when more than 3,700 people showed up for the annual Rotary Half Marathon. The Community Center at Mercer View and its surrounding grounds were transformed into a festive race village while the rest of the Island became a hilly, winding and sun-bathed race track where thousands of feet pounded the pavement to raise money and awareness for colon cancer.Β
