Welcome Our Newest Blogger, Lois Sargent

Do you have an opinion, experience, or passion you'd like to share? We welcome you to blog about it on Patch through our Local Voices section.

During the last week, Mercer Island High School Horticulutre teacher, Loir Sargent, joined the ranks of bloggers on Mercer Island Patch.

In her first post, Why buy from Crest Plant Sale instead of the big box stores?, she explains the latest partnership between a MIHS science class and a local nursery, Crest Greenhouses. The program, called “go green in 2013,” offers a career science class where students use only sustainable practices, re-use and reduce waste while learning and giving back to the community.

Islanders may purchase plants grown during this course from May 4 through June 10.
