Whiz Kids: Sewing Kindness

Island Park Elementary students sew pillows to donate to homeless families.

For the last several weeks, the Activity Room at has been buzzing with the sounds of a sewing machine, scissors cutting paper templates, and at times, the "Ouch!" of a finger pricked by a needle.

Under the guidance of para-pro Mrs. Wotipka, students from all grade levels have used their recess time every day to create beautiful pillows which will be donated to homeless families. We applaud these young students for their hard work and loving gesture--and for the beautiful creations!
