Wind Advisory in Effect for Mercer Island

In addition to windy conditions with gusts up to 45 mph, the snow level is expected to drop to 400 feet Saturday and 100 feet on Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for midnight tonight through 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, saying gusts of up to 45 mph are expected on Mercer Island.

A wind advisory is issued whenever winds of 37 to 39 mph are expected or gusts 45 mph or greater. High winds could cause downed branches and localized power outages.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is expecting snow through Snoqualmie Pass tonight and through Saturday afternoon, and advises travelers that visibility could be very low. The NWS said snow levels could drop from 1,200 feet to 400 feet by Saturday evening, and dropping to 100 feet by Sunday evening.

On Mercer Island, rain and snow are likely Saturday night through Sunday evening, but little or no snow accumulation is expected.
