Lyric Arts Ensemble Concert at MIPC

Mercer Island Presbyterian Church invites community members to attend the Lyric Arts Ensemble Concert conducted by Kenneth L. DeJong. Sixteen vocalists and a chamber orchestra will perform newly published choral music and historical masterpieces.

The concert will be divided into 3 parts:

  • Music of Angels, the best of sacred music;
  • Flos Campi, composed by Vaughan Williams, a suite for viola solo, chamber orchestra and worldless chorus, based on texts from the Song of Solomon;
  • Music of Gypsies, the Zigenuerlieder of Johannes Brahms for voices and piano.

The Lyric Arts Ensemble is a Bellevue, Washington-based chamber choir, now in its thirteenth year. Eschewing board meetings, ticket sales, fundraisers and the administrative overhead that comes with formal nonprofit status, the singers and director focus all their time and energy together on music-making. Self-funded, the group's free concerts draw a loyal following to hear a varied mix of choral and chamber choir music, including many new works by contemporary composers.

Admission is compliments of Lyric Arts Ensemble and Mercer Island Presbyterian Church.  For questions or more information, contact Sue Sherwood at 236-0740 or Mercer Island Presbyterian Church at 232-5535.
