According City Recreation Superintendent Diane Mortenson, approximately 3,000 people (over 1,000 children) scoured Mercerdale Park for a record 5,000 Easter eggs. This is the second year the annual egg hunt was run based exclusively on donations after Mercer Island City Council eliminated all funding for the Parks and Recreation Department's Special Events, amounting to $25,000. Programs that are entirely supported by donations include the annual Summer Celebration Fireworks show, the Fun Mobile "Fantastic Fridays" program, the at , and the summer Community Campout.
