Island Books Announces Poetry Contest Winners

Paula Glass, Luca Palermo, Gregory Larrabee, Werner Glass and Charlie Neff were all selected winners for their poetry by age group that they submitted to the store's "Poetry Pole".

In honor of National Poetry Month this April, The and sponsored a poetry contest on the theme of "What I Can Touch" that accepted submissions all through April.Β 

The local book store, which hosted a "Poetry Pole" to display the entries, received emails and took submissions over the counter throughout the month.Β 

The following winners were announced yesterday, May 1, and their winning entries can be viewed at Island Books. The store's online Blog will also be updated soo with the winning entries, which can be found by clicking here.

Contest Winners:

K through 3rd grade: Luca Palermo, Grade 2, for "Shoes"

4th & 5th grade: Gregory Larrabee, Grade 5, for "The Straight Blade Razor"

Adult, Limerick: Werner Glass, for "Whoever among the literati sits"
