If you haven't planned your Labor Day weekend get away, here are five places to consider.
A beautiful Victorian seaport, Port Townsend offers abundant charm and a variety of activities for all to enjoy. Stroll the streets and shop for gifts, knickknacks and artwork, or indulge in an ice cream cone at an old-fashioned ice creamery.
You can be in Port Angeles in thirty-five minutes if you travel by Kenmore Air. From day trips to tours, you and your group will have a variety of things to do and see. Stop by the local, award-winning winery and sip a glass of Chardonnay, and don't forget to visit the Sea Stacks at Rialto Beach before you leave!
Head over to Hood Canal for crabbing, beachcombing, boating or bird watching. Over the holiday weekend, you can also partake in the Highland Celtic Festival which features Celtic and Highland music, dancing and game demonstrations. There's also an indoor/outdoor beer garden and delicious food vendors available for you to enjoy.
To truly getaway from it all, check into the Ben Ure cabin at Deception Pass. The cabin can only be accessed by a kayak, rowboat or similar water vessel, and you'll need to take along your own drinking water. While there aren't any tours or planned activities, you'll have the day or the weekend to relax and unwind.
And if you have a little bit more travel time available, head on over to Bull Hill Dude Ranch in Northeastern Washington. Voted as one of the best escapes in the Northwest-by Evening Magazine-this working cattle ranch might leave you so inspired that you'll want to make the trip again and again. Aside from horseback riding, there are countless activities to keep you and your group amused and entertained.
Wherever you go, whatever you do, happy travels to you and yours!
