Beach Boys, Blondie and Ringo Starr Slated for Chateau Ste. Michelle Summer Concert Series

Chateau Ste. Michelle winery will again host a series of outdoor concerts for the summer of 2012, opening the season with John Fogerty. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

Islanders always enjoy the free summer concert Mostly Music in the Park Series, but when it comes to brand-name, big-time touring musicians and rock bands, winery is the place to be. Their 29th annual Summer Concert Series kicks off Saturday, June 16 with a performance by John Fogerty.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m. online at http://www.ticketmaster.com/and through all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Chateau Ste. Michelle wine shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The 2012 Chateau Ste. Michelle Summer Concert Series will offer 17 concerts spanning the range of pop, jazz, rock and blues from June 16 through Sept. 16. Each concert takes place in the winery’s outdoor amphitheater with seating for 4,300.

This year’s lineup includes John Fogerty; The Dukes of September, who are Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs; Steve Miller Band; The Beach Boys; Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band; Lyle Lovett & His Large Band; Earth, Wind & Fire; Chris Isaak and Shawn Colvin; Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers and Emmylou Harris; Alison Krauss and Union Station; Diana Krall with Denzal Sinclaire; Blondie and Devo; Bonnie Raitt with Mavis Staples; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Chicago and Huey Lewis and The News.

All shows feature general festival seating on the lawn, as well as reserved seating. Performances take place regardless of weather.Net proceeds from the annual concert series help fund Chateau Ste. Michelle’s charitable contributions program, which supports a broad range of non-profit organizations.

The Chateau Ste. Michelle wine shop is open before all concerts with wine and picnic items available for purchase. In addition, an array of food vendors will offer a selection of menu items for sale in the amphitheater. Concert-goers may also bring their own picnic baskets and non-alcoholic beverages. (The Washington State Liquor Control Board requires that all alcoholic beverages consumed on the winery grounds be purchased at the winery.)

I'll be a bit more direct than Jerry. The new site is a mess. Visually it's extremely cluttered.Read More It's slow, very slow. There appear to be no RSS feeds, a major negative. Following a few links sometimes sends you to a different community's Patch site. And what happened with the editing staff. Unless I missed something, suddenly there are new editors without any warning. No matter what the circumstances, normally such a move would be accompanied by an announcement of some sort. Venice may be the greatest editor ever, but it looks like she is splitting her time among several Patch sites, so the odds are stacked against her. Her "latest activities" list even suggests that she is editing a Patch site down in the San Francisco Bay area. With all due respect, Patch sites should be hyper-local, and the best route to that is a local (i.e. Mercer Islander) editor.
