Othello Public Market Grand Opening

Located within the most diverse zip-code in the US, the Othello Public Market is scheduled to open on April 2, 2011 and will be a year-round, indoor market composed of individual vendor stalls set in a charming, rustic atmosphere modeled after traditional markets native to countries all over the world that combine elements from both farmers’ and flea markets—sort of an "international" Pike Place Market. Available products will include everything from fresh produce to clothing, arts & crafts to antiques, technological gadgets to religious icons.

The market will represent cultures from around the world, including Asian, Pacific Islander, Oceanic, African, African American, Caribbean, Latino, European, Anglo American, Middle Eastern and Native American. By reaching out to the diverse cultures of Puget Sound and offering them a shared stake in the community, the city of Seattle will be a shining example of how to tear down the walls that divide us rather than build them up, of how to embrace our differences rather than to reject them.
