Mercer Island Dentist Named Fellow in Prestigious Society

The honor for Dr. York was awarded for "outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community". She opened her dental practice on Mercer Island in 2003 with fellow dentist Dr. Rebecca Zerngast.

A local Mercer Island dentist, Dr. Carrie K. York, was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists at its 83rd Annual Convocation in San Francisco, Oct. 19.

An honorary organization for the recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community, the College presented Dr. York with a membership plaque, a gold lapel pin and a gold key symbolic of the fellowhip for conspicuous service rendered the art and science of dentistry.

In a cap and gown ceremony over 250 dentists from the United States were inducted into the college. There are representative chapters in more than 80 countries and over 11,00 members, including 6,500 in the United States.

York, a Seattle native, opened her dental practice on Mercer Island in 2003 with fellow dentist Dr. Rebecca Zerngast.

She graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1991, and continues to teach there as an instructor to 3rd and 4th year students.
