PHOTOS: More Food, More Choices at 2012 Mercer Island Farmers Market

MI Farmers Market has its largest line-up ever, with over a dozen new vendors, on its 5th year in business near Mercerdale Park.

The 2012 opened with large crowds and plenty of sunshine on June 10.

This year's market featured 45 vendors on opening day (including 17 new vendors), the most ever in its 5-year run. MIFM Marketing Directory Patty Spahr said much of the growth in the market is from an increase in the number of prepared food vendors — now set at eight, more than double the number last year.

"We're responding to customer requests," said Spahr. "They wanted more food options."

In addition to the traditional farm-fresh produce (a complete list of the market's vendors can be found by clicking here), the new food options include two new food trucks — Big Food and Buns Gourmet Burgers — and a hot dog stand, Dante's Inferno Dog. Seattle-based Got Soup?, Patty Pan Grill and Veraci Pizza, Molly Moons and Parfait ice cream also all return to this years market.

The market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday from now until October 14, (The MIFM will be closed on Sunday, July 15th for Mercer Island’s Summer Celebration and August 5th for SeaFair.) and re-open for a special "Harvest Market" before Thanksgiving on Nov. 18.
