Readers' Choice: Country Village Day School Is Mercer Island Favorite

, which got just over a quarter of poll's 200 votes, features a loving, child centered preschool that offers developmentally appropriate activities centered around play, according to the school's website. The school also has infant day care — one of the few on Mercer Island — and is a before and after-school child care center for children up to 12 years old, as well as having a preschool.

Great staff, wonderful environment a true blessing to working families. In addition to the stimulating education my daughters receive, they saved our butts when West Mercer cancelled classes due to a power outage. CVDS was able to receive the kids early and took care of providing lunch. No hassles, no additional money, no worries.

Country Village does have the leg up on the under 2.5 crowd, for the working parents, so kudos there! Also Country Village has an awesome summer program with more activities for the kiddos.

EWM has a much more convenient drop-off layout, all snacks are included in the fee, provides very healthy lunches for a nominal monthly fee, and never surprises parents with lists of art supplies for the year (I pay top dollar for childcare, dang it, buy your own art supplies!).

MI Learning Lab was not only the best choice for my kids, but their parent ed classes made me a better parent. Judy Witmer is an institution on Mercer Island. Props also to the MISD preschool and Sydney McCready, providing essential preschool education to children with developmental issues. My son was lucky enough to go to both, so I split my vote!
