Brrr... Temperatures Warmer, But Will Stay Below Normal This Week

The forecast calls for gray skies, rain, and lots of snow in the mountains.

The snow has mostly melted away, but temperatures are still about 10 degrees below normal and rain is here for several days, say forecasters with the National Weather Service.

The NWS is predicting rain this week and a return to above-freezing temperatures after a chilly weekend with overnight temperatures dropping to 20 degrees Fahrenheit. The local chill was so pervasive that developed a layer of ice and the fountain was frozen solid until Sunday afternoon.

City road crews were busy last week and over the weekend applying de-icing solution and a grit-and-salt mix to roads to prevent accidents.
