Community Center Closes Due to Ice Storm

The Mercer Island Community and Event Center is shut down and all programming canceled on Thursday, Jan. 19 due to the snow and ice hazard on local and area roads.

The has closed due to inclement weather.

According to a city press release:

Due to the continued severe winter weather conditions in the Seattle Metropolitan area, and concern for the safety of staff members and the community, the Mercer Island Community & Event Center (MICEC) will not open today, Thursday, January 19, 2012. Also, in accordance with our inclement weather policy, since Mercer Island Schools are closed, all recreation classes and organized activities are cancelled for January 19th.  We do anticipate re-opening at 6:30am tomorrow morning (Friday).

As weather conditions change, any facility schedule updates  or closures can be found on the MICEC web site at www.mercergov.org/micec or can be heard on our inclement weather information hotline at 206.275.7894.
