  • Where/When: 4 p.m. on Fri, Oct. 21 at .
  • Why Go: Join the Mercer Island High School Marching Band, local high school students, homecoming royalty, cheerleaders, drill team members, and the floats built by MIHS students for this year's Homecoming Parade. The theme is "Romecoming" - a celebration of Greek and Roman times. The parade will follow a route around the Town Center. After the parade head over to and root on the Islanders varsity football squad as they take on Sammamish starting at 7:30 p.m. Go Islanders!
  • Cost: Free. Students of all ages, staff, parents, and community members are encouraged to attend.

  • Why Go: This week, the Mercer Island Arts Council's "Classics on Film" features the powerful documentary Beyond Greenway. Never heard of it? Check out the film's trailer to see what you're in for. Stick around after the showing for a Q&A with the film's director, Sue Gilbert.

  • Why Go: This film classic is part of the ongoing Saturday Matinee film series examining the portrayal of the media in Hollywood films. Previous films in the series include "The Philaldelphia Story" and "His Girl Friday." The screening will be introduced by film historian Lance Rhodes.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sat, Oct. 22 at .
  • Why Go: Safely dispose of the old equipment and household items that are cluttering your basements or garages at the Mercer Island Fall Recycling Event this Saturday. Learn more about what, and what not to bring by checking out the event's flyer.

  • Where/When: 6-9 p.m. Sat, Oct. 22 at .
  • Why Go: Spend your Saturday relaxing with a glass of your favorite wine and the live music from some of the local area's best talents. Expect to hear everything from jazz to rock, classical to folk during these Saturday night musical performances at The Olde Wine Store. 
  • Cost: Admission is free. All tips go to the performers.
