Drivers should expect travel delays due to the lane closures for cellular phone infrastructure improvements made by Verizon Wireless.

Construction crews working for Verizon Wireless will be installing a large underground vault this weekend on the west side of Island Crest Way next to Island Crest Park near SE 60th Street.

"They continue to upgrade their facilities," he said. "It's all related to improve Verizon's cellular service."

A large crane is needed to move the sections of the vault into position and it will be located partially on Island Crest Way, closing the west side of the roadway on Saturday and Sunday.

North and southbound traffic will alternately use the east side of Island Crest with the assistance of flaggers. This work was scheduled to occur on the weekend to avoid impacting commuter and school traffic during the week.
