MONDAY, JUNE 6

A City Hall performance review of last year shows Mercer Island is second only to Sammamish as the safest place on the Eastside.

A 60-year-old Mercer Island man died at Harborview Medical Center from injuries sustained in May 23 crash on Bellevue Way SE.

TUESDAY, JUNE 7

Tun Channareth will speak June 12 at the church about his work for the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.

Pastor Greg Asimakoupoulos has left Mercer Island Covenant Church after deciding that it needs more of an administrator than a minister to lead the church out of its financial struggles.

Mercer Island was awarded the highest point total of any school — regardless of classification — in the state.

Mercer Island Open Space Conservancy Chair Debbie Bertlin and Rich Erwin have both filed to run against Deputy Mayor El Jahncke.

Former City Deputy Manager claimed city had violated civil rights in her termination.
