Mercer Island Patch Week in Review: May 2-7

SATURDAY, MAY 7

The three teachers were nominated by their fellow teachers and selected by school principals, and were awarded $500 by the Mercer Island Lions Club.

FRIDAY, MAY 6

The Friday morning PTA fundraiser for Island Park Elementary School is tied to the Mercer Island Schools Foundation Bridge the Gap effort to raise $1.2 million to fill a state funding shortfall.

Coffee drinkers will receive a discount on a Frappuccino at participating stores starting on Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

THURSDAY, MAY 5

April NWMLS stats for Mercer Island show smaller inventories of homes and interest in expensive homes priced to sell and homes under $1 million.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 4

TUESDAY, MAY 3

The Mercer Island Community Fund announced a $10,000 matching grant to keep the fireworks show going this summer and Kiwanis's permit to sell fireworks for their annual fundraiser is approved.

(April 28-May 2): The 16-year-old resident was reportedly shooting the cars for sport from his apartment balcony last Saturday.

MONDAY, MAY 2

Mercer Island High students can learn the trade of broadcasting by working at their own on-the-air station, KMIH 88.9 FM.
