Mercer Island Pie and Dessert Contest Winners: Berry Pie and Fruit Galette

A mother-daughter duo and a food writer were each awarded first prizes in a baking competition July 8 at the Mercer Island Farmers Market, co-sponsored by the Youth and Family Services (YFS) Advisory Board

On Sunday, July 8, the Advisory Board partnered with the to hold a . Thirteen-year-old Miranda Johnson and her mother, Tanya Bednarski, won 1st Place in the Pie competition with their Summer Harvest Berry Pie (pictured)Cynthia Shifrin, a Mercer Island psychotherapist and food columnist in the Mercer Island Reporter, also placed first for her dessert creation, Nectarine, Blueberry and Strawberry Galette with Macadamia and Oat Crumble.
