  • Why Go: Join the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church this Saturday as they hold their annual Benefit Show and Auction. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to an array of silent auction items that are one-of-a-kind, unique and special. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by local teens as they play, act and perform a broad variety of musical and thespian pieces.
  • Cost: Tickets are $10 per person or $25 a family.

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10; 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, at .
  • Why Go: Join the Youth Theatre for the opening weekend of their newest production, Urinetown. This hilarious musical tells a tale of greed, corruption, love, revolution and is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats throughout the show.
  • Cost: Tickets range between $13 and $15. Appropriate for ages 10+.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at .
  • Why Go: This unique sale kicks off the local plant sale season. The sale is known for its unique specialties, spring ephemerals and treasures not readily found elsewhere. For more information, visit www.n-p-a.org.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

  • Where/When: 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at .
  • Why Go: The Central Sound Regional Science & Engineering Fair is an annual science and engineering competition for 9th- through 12th-grade students in King and Snohomish counties. The general public is invited to view student projects and take part in science and engineering activities this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. in the gym, then stay for the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. View the full fair schedule and learn how to enter at www.bellevuecollege.edu/sciencefair.
  • Cost: Free.

  • Where/When: 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, at  in Bellevue.
  • Why Go: Join the Northwest Arts Center this Saturday for art, games, music and all things green. This event is suitable for children between 2 and 5 years old. Don’t forget to wear something green!
  • Cost: $22 for residents and $25 for non-residents.

  • Where/When: 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 9, at  in Kirkland.
  • Why Go: Join Simplicity Decor this Friday to get a sneak peak at the arrival of new Simplicity spring treasures. Come sip and snack while 20 percent of the proceeds from your purchases will be donated toward uncompensated care. Plan to have happy hour,  dinner, or enjoy an art walk  in downtown Kirkland and then  swing by Simplicity to pick out a few gifts or spring  items for your home.
  • Cost: Admission is free.

I'll be a bit more direct than Jerry. The new site is a mess. Visually it's extremely cluttered.Read More It's slow, very slow. There appear to be no RSS feeds, a major negative. Following a few links sometimes sends you to a different community's Patch site. And what happened with the editing staff. Unless I missed something, suddenly there are new editors without any warning. No matter what the circumstances, normally such a move would be accompanied by an announcement of some sort. Venice may be the greatest editor ever, but it looks like she is splitting her time among several Patch sites, so the odds are stacked against her. Her "latest activities" list even suggests that she is editing a Patch site down in the San Francisco Bay area. With all due respect, Patch sites should be hyper-local, and the best route to that is a local (i.e. Mercer Islander) editor.
