Seattle resident Bruce Le plans to open the American-style burger and Vietnamese grill sometime in October 2013.

A new Mercer Island restaurant has leased the former site of Alpenland Delicatessen, according to city records.

Island Broiler, featuring American-style burgers with an "Island theme" and Vietnamese-style grilled favorites, is preparing to begin construction on the restaurant's interior in coming weeks, according to Elizabeth Montgomery, owner of interior design firm Catch Design Studios.

The restaurant is scheduled to open in October, 2013.

The new business is owned by Seattle restauranteur Bruce Le. State business records list Thuy Tran as his business partner.
