Wednesday Night Power Outage Hits Mercer Island

Approximately 1,050 customers lost power in Mercer Island's South-end neighborhoods.

A fallen tree Wednesday night near knocked out power to over 1,000 South-end Mercer Island homes, according to Puget Sound Energy.

PSE spokesperson Allison Stanford said a tree fell into power lines near SE 68th Street at around 9:30 p.m., causing a loss of power for 1,050 customers. Power returned gradually because a repair crew responding to the outage had to replace 25 feet of damaged wire.

Power was restored to 200 homes by 10:15 p.m., 650 more by 10:35 p.m., and the remaining 200 customers had power restored by 2 a.m this morning.
