SATURDAY, MARCH 5

Go behind the scenes with The Youth Theatre Northwest on opening night of "The Crucible." The cast made up of a group of 20 youth ranging from 13 years old to 18 years old, show what it takes to prepare for a play. The play runs from March 4-20 on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.

FRIDAY, MARCH 4

Mercer Island was one of the few areas in the February sales report, released by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service, that showed an increase in sales activity. The broker-owned Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) released February on Thursday, showing a modest increase in sales activity on Mercer Island in a traditionally slow period. 

THURSDAY, MARCH 3

Mercer Island's Yeshiva raises over $200,000 and donations to build a new computer lab to improve the school and maintain its affordability. Hundreds of guests showed up at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Seattle last Sunday night to help raise funds for Northwest Yeshiva High School at its annual auction.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2

Police Blotter: (Feb. 23-27) State health officials revoked the license of Mark Satterlund Feb. 28 to perform massage therapy and is accused of using his position as a Mercer Island driving instructor to find victims.

TUESDAY, MARCH 1

Mercer Island Boy Scout Taylan Yuasa donated over 4,000 items to Operation Nightwatch to help achieve his Eagle Scout.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28

The Mercer Island School District, facing an estimated $1 million shortfall, weighs its options. For the fourth consecutive year, local school teachers could again see layoff notices this June as state and federal funding reductions take hold next school year, school officials said at a Feb. 24 school board meeting.

These timeless treats keep up with the modern age by helping you find girl scout cookie sale locations online. The Girl Scouts of America are hitting the pavement, selling Samoas, Tagalongs and Thin Mints in their yearly fundraiser at local grocery stores and businesses near you.

At the end of the night, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences named 24 winners. Winter's Bone, featuring the writing talents of grad Anne Rosellini (she was nominated in her role as producer and scriptwriter for Best Picture and Best Screenplay) was nominated four times but didn't win an Oscar.
