Excerpts from the Nutcracker" will be performed for the 11th year in a row on the main stage of Youth Theatre Northwest. The performance features 52 members of the Mercer Island Youth Ballet and students from the Children's Dance Conservatory ranging in age from 6 to 18 years.
"Excerpts from the Nutcracker," directed by Susan Valencia, has become a Mercer Island tradition and a must-see for all who wish to experience the holiday magic of one of the ballet world's most cherished classics. This holiday offering will delight your spirit and fire your imagination. Exquisite costumes, theatrical wizardry, period settings, and beautiful dancing transport you to a magical place where mice and soldiers battle, snowflakes dance, and a beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy reigns in the Land of the Sweets. The classic delights with a dreamy snow storm set to the music of Tchaikovsky. Performance length is two hours including intermission.
