"Winter Nights"

The Russian Chamber Music Foundation of Seattle is excited to present the Grammy-nominated St. Petersburg String Quartet in their Seattle debut concert on February 23rd, 2014 in Benaroya Hall’s Nordstrom Recital Hall. Praised by the New York Times for their “compelling performance” and “solid foundation of collective vision and musical savvy,” they were founded in 1985 and have performed in the world’s most prestigious venues. Their current season includes a performance at Carnegie Hall; a six-concert series at New York City's popular BargeMusic Series, where they will perform the complete Shostakovich cycle; a collaboration with the Naumberg Piano Competition winner Anton Nel; three concerts at the Los Angeles Music Guild; tours of England and France; and concerts in Connecticut, Florida, Texas, California, Louisiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Idaho and Mexico. A reviewer from the Toronto Globe and Mail wrote, "Bliss, for this listener, doesn't get much more unequivocal than the St. Petersburg Quartet's performance."

Their program in Seattle will include magnificent works by Glinka (Grand Sextet for String Quartet, Piano, and Bass), Borodin, and other great Russian composers.
