Eastside Pipes and Drums Band

Islanders walking around the Town Center on Wednesdays between 9:00am and 12:00pm may hear some unfamiliar music coming from the North Fire Station. The Eastside Pipes and Drums band has rotated their practice to the Mercer Island.

Eastside Pipes and Drums is a traditional bagpipe and drum band comprised entirely of local firefighters, including Mercer Island's own firefighter Mark Givens. The band practices weekly  (on the firefighter's own time) and performs at a wide range of local events including weddings, funerals, and parades.

The band will practice at the North Station through August. The public is encouraged to attend and listen on Wednesdays between 11:00am and 12:00pm when the full band will play together. Islanders who choose to stop by the station as asked to leave the front of the station clear so on-duty firefighters can respond to emergencies without delay.
