Fill The Boot Mercer Island

The Fire Fighters from the Mercer Island Fire Department will be out in support on Thursday June 9 at 8 a.m. with boots in hand. These local fire fighters supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) will be located on 77th ave SE and SE 27th street and Island Crest Way and SE 40th Street ready to collect donations from motorists throughout the day.

Committed to ending neuromuscular diseases, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is a longtime friend and supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Fill-the-Boot drives are the primary means by which the IAFF has raised almost $300 million for MDA since 1954.

This is the 57th year IAFF members will hit the streets to bring help and hope to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. “For more than five decades, fire fighters across the country have done an unbelievable job helping the MDA with their time and energy in helping raise funds’’ MDA Chairman & CEO Gerald C. Weinberg. “They are our true heroes. They make a difference that has impacted MDA patients throughout the years. They are truly inspiring, selfless individuals.’’
