Bike to Work Day Rolls in to Mercer Island on Friday

Organizers will host support stations around the Puget Sound region from 6 to 9 a.m.

Cascade Bicycle Club's annual Bike to Work Day is just a few days away, and organizers are gearing up for another big turnout.

In Mercer Island, a commuter station will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. Friday on the I-90 lid. Riders traveling across I-90 will find two stations on either end: one on the Mercer Island Trail at SE 34th and I-90 in Bellevue and one at the east end of the Mt. Baker Tunnel in Seattle.

Most stations will offer free snacks, mechanical support and raffle prizes. Visit the Cascade Bicycle Club website for more details.

After the "work" part of Bike to Work Day is complete, cyclists are invited to celebrate at the official after-party in downtown Seattle. Festivities will kick off at 4:30 p.m. at Velo Bike Shop at 6th and Blanchard.

The City of Redmond will also host its second-annual Bike Bash from 4 to 7 p.m. behind city hall. Free food, live music and a beer garden will all be part of the festivities.
