Mercer Island Solar Project Topic for City Council May 20

The Mercer Island City Council will meet at 7 p.m. May 20 at Mercer Island City Hall, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, WA.

Among the items on the agenda is a proposed $39,000 solar array project at the Mercer Island Community and Events Center, which would help supply the community center with electricity.

The city received a $30,000 grant from Puget Sound Energy in January to bring solar power to the community center.

Mercer Island nonprofit IslandVision and community group TIMI also have raised $5,580 so far to increase the size of the solar array, according to city documents. The remainder of the proposed cost is a 10 percent contingency, according to the city documents.
