We've spent a good many of our recent years living here on Mercer Island, happily renovating our very well-designed Mid-Century Modern home — designed by Hawley Dudley Architect, AIA.
The home was built back in 1955 and has been occupied by eight subsequent owners — some more competent and/or caring gardeners than the others.
Its neglected large garden on the rest of the half acre lot had to be redone — a very large concurrent project.
Take a look by clicking on the photos above at what we've done with our garden since then, taken a few days ago before we start losing all the leaves. I took the featured picture and Patty took all the others of the garden she created that bursts with color in the fall — it's the best time of the year!
Mercer Island is full of deciduous trees that turn bright colors in fall. My favorite is driving up Island Crest Way from the to the . Very colorful, indeed.
Here's four other favorite local spots for enjoying the autumn leaves:
- North-end of Merrimont Drive;
- and finally, — all are worth a good look!
