How did this Mercer Island architect come to design an Argentine ranch house?

How did a Mercer Island architect come to design an Argentine ranch house? Marileen was our foreign student who stayed with us while she attended the UW.

Marileen was our foreign student who stayed with us and our three children while she attended the University of Washington. She went back home and married, had three children with her then husband. During  the Peron bad years we lost all contact with her. Marileen wrote soon after their democracy was restored and invited us down to stay at estancia "el Choique" with her husband Julian. During our lovely visit, Julian and Marileen decided they wanted a "Jerry Gropp" house with more of the features she'd really liked while staying with us. Builder Marcelo Grether and his staff architect Alfredo Barcia took my designs and made them reality. In all I've made seven  trips to Argentina, a most wonderful country, many with wife Patty.  Here's the story-
