Some Spring Flowers In our own Mercer Island garden.

A few details can go a long way to saving an ill-maintained existing home — inside and out.

My wife Patty created our garden which we see through our large "window walls". These windows are a feature of Mid-Century Modern homes all around Mercer Island and elsewhere.

The garden was part of a major renewing project to save what had been considered a "tear-down". We moved into a poorly-maintained Mid-Century Modern-style home which had had eight owners before we bought it.

Among many other nice things in the renovation, we added a living room bay window (see photo #2) and roll-up screens (see photo #3).
