Opening Day at Yo Mercer

Over the past few weeks I've been anticipating the opening of Yo Mercer located in the south end shopping center.  When I first heard it was coming to the island I was thrilled.  What could be better than self serve frozen yogurt with many toppings to choose from?   While vacationing I had discovered the joy of tasting the different flavors and creating my own version of a relatively guilt free treat.   

Mercer Island must have left a great impression on Gary Sherman & his wife Karen.  Although they moved from the Lakes with their family to Bend Oregon a few years back they chose this location to open their first yogurt shop (watch for their next store in Sammamish).  

Lucky for our community they designed  a welcoming place with a fireplace, a comfy sitting area and multiple tables, chairs and stools.  Bright colors will make you forget about our often uncooperative Northwest weather.

If the first night is any indication this is sure to be a favorite meeting place.  We arrived after the dinner hour and over the course of the next hour many families showed up to check out what is sure to become a "go to" place. 

We were cheerfully greeted at the cash register by MIHS sophomore Brooks Hamilton and WSU sophomore Kimberley Hubbard who wanted to make sure were pleased with our experience.  

Although we live at the Northend,  Yo Mercer is sure to become a destination spot for us.  Hope to see you there.  You know what I look like, so please say hello or "Yo" will do!!
