Summertime...and the Livin' is Easy!

We made it!! If you have kids at home you're sure to agree that June is right up there with December when it comes to full schedules. For us it was magnified by having our first high school graduate. Little did I know how exciting and emotional a time it would be. Looking forward to kicking back and enjoying all that island living has to offer.

Finally we are getting a glimpse into long awaited summer weather. The boats are finding their way back to the lake, the restaurants downtown have opened their outdoor patios and summer celebration is right around the corner. It's this time of year that we can truly appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.

Kick off the season with  this July 8 & 9. Nothing like a parade to get things going in the town center at 10a.m. Thanks to generous sponsors the tradition of fireworks on Saturday night that was at risk due to funding is back on.  

We can really feel the sense of what a great community we are as we picnic while listening to concerts at  every Sunday and Thursday, July 17 through Aug. 14. Let's not forget Seafair. Mercer Island residents are fortunate to have front row seats to the center point for the Blue Angels air show. Practices will be Thursday, Aug. 4th, 10 a.m. - noon and 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. followed by performances Friday, Saturday and Seafair Sunday 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. The main event of hydroplane races will start with time trials Friday and culminate with finals Sunday afternoon.
