A Short Word of Thanks

It's the night before Thanksgiving and since I'll be enjoying a day off, eating with family tomorrow, I just wanted to take a minute to say why I'm thankful for this community of Mercer Island.

The parks: My dog Jasper and I had a great time at the Luther Burbank off-leash area today and I was reminded of all the beautiful parks on Mercer Island. Some with great playgrounds for kids, some for dogs, and lots of great trails to enjoy for both. Plus, all the great beach parks! My favorite hangout this last summer was Slater Park, where I spent a lot of time trying to beat the heat while eight months pregnant!

The great neighborhoods: My family lives on First Hill, where my husband Scott grew up. We love it here, with the close proximity to I-90 and downtown Mercer Island. But there are so many other neighborhoods with different feels, and I love exploring them.

The people: Mercer Island is a very special small town. Where else can you get that small-town feel and still be so close to two big cities? People really seem to love where they live here, and to me that's the best thing about living on Mercer Island. People who are passionate about their community and keeping it the best it can be.

Happy Thanksgiving/Thanksgivukkah, everyone!
