With a toddler and a 6-month old baby at home, I don't get to spend as much time these days on the Wednesday Mercer Island broker tour as I would like to. So I have to be pretty selective during one hour.
Yesterday, I chose an East Mercer waterfront home and a West Mercer view home. Both were vacant and very close in size. Excluding the outdoor aspects of view and waterfront footage, I had very different reactions. The funny thing is, both homes also used a lot of wood. But while one was very traditional, the other had a kind of contemporary lodge feel. Seattle girl that I am, I definitely gravitated towards the second home.
It just struck a chord with me. The lodge home felt bright and warm, while the traditional one seemed heavy and dark. Not really a place that made me feel at home!
