It's Only Six Miles…

After yesterday’s Seattle Seahawks victory parade, my husband Scott and I decided to walk home to Mercer Island. Mostly because our 2-year-old was asleep and we didn’t want to have Grandma wake him up to come get us. And there was no room on the buses.

At least it was a clear, sunny day! Otherwise, I may not have learned that the six miles from 4th & Washington in Seattle to Mercer Island is actually a nice little hike! The Cascade Mountains were crisp and clear to the east behind Bellevue, and we could also see Mount Baker to the  north and of course, Mount Rainier.

As we were walking on the trail and over the bridge, I was thinking about how that scenery goes by so fast at 60+ mph and how it really was nice to slow down and take in the view. (And how my face was freezing). I was also thinking, it’s good to be able to still do things like this!

Every once in a while, take a little time to try a different route. You’ll get a new perspective on the place you call home.
