Burglars Strike Four Mercer Island Homes Tuesday

Mercer Island Police are still trying to find who is responsible for breaking in to four North-end homes Tuesday afternoon.

Mercer Island Police are investigating four residential burglaries on June 25 in neighborhoods on the North-end of Mercer Island.

All of the afternoon break-ins were reportedly committed by the same person or group, based on the entry methods (smashing windows and kicking in doors), according to police. Jewelry appeared to be a target in the burglaries, and at least one of the residences reported a significant loss of valuable jewelry.

In one instance, the burglary may have been interrupted by the homeowner returning home while the burglar(s) was/were still inside the house.

Here's the details from the Mercer Island Police Department:

  • 4200 block W. Mercer Way. First report of burglary, further details pending.
  • 4000 block E. Mercer Way.  Entry was by smashed, upstairs bedroom window. Items taken include a jewelry and a camera
  • 8300 block SE 30th PL.  Entry was made with a crowbar, which pried two French doors open.  The burglary may have been interrupted by the homeowner returning home while the burglar(s) was/were still inside the house.  Nothing was missing from the home.
  • 7400 block N. Mercer Way. Entry was made by smashing a window.  Victims are making a list of the items stolen

"Detectives are working the case and have some evidence to follow up on," said MIPD spokesperson Cmdr. Leslie Burns.
